RE-INHABIT MAULE REGION'S COAST.
University of Talca
Four infrastructures for coast inhabitants.
Four small projects propose a new architectural language for the central Chilean coast, inspired by the fishing shacks whose fragile construction typifies the coastal environment.
They include a temporary shelter for fishermen, a descent down rugged rocks to extract algae, a shelter for beachgoers, and a floating dock; all small-scale infrastructures designed to link the cultural and productive landscape of the coastal inhabitant with the natural beauty of the Maule coast.
These works arise from the constant dialogue between coastal living and activities inherent to the coast, including pressures from global industries versus the often-contrasting needs of the local micro-economy.
