Revalue the library for new learning spaces
An obsolete Method…
From its beginning’s man has always been looking his development and evolution, and he accomplished this goal through experience.

This necessary experience is forgotten by the educational system, which undermines the ability over the needs and the theory over the practice, in an obsolete method for a user searching for experience and development.
In the same manner, learning sites lose their value by not meeting the student´s needs who look to interact with these environments.
The library is considered the main site to compliment a classroom to children, but it is getting devalued and it is losing its place among students.

Formal Operation
The main use of the library comes from the etymology of its Latin translation BIBLION (books) and THEKE (box) meaning “the books container”. Through the history of the library, the box or the building has prevailed over its content. Instead this project looks forward to value the book as the soul of the space, by transforming the building into a great shelf. The act of searching a book become the main driver to the design.
This design generates a permanent relation between the building itself and the user, who is led through an experience of finding this space transform in to an act of exploration.

Functional Strategy
The building shows itself as a structure/zigzagging metal shelf that hangs inside a concrete box. The generated fills and voids allow to place and organize the program divided in; Collectors Area (0 to 4 years old), reception, experimenters (5 to 12 years old), savants (13 to 20 years old), media library and auditorium.

This underground structure is able to control light through specific perforations, which enlighten the enclosures to guide, reveal, unveil and give pace to the experience of going through and living the space.
