The integration of the strata; Sea, Coastline and Land, on its transversal
The project was born through a vast understanding of the sea and the lush underlying world that is present all around our country.
Through this study we hope to discover how to ensure human survival by utilizing the untapped, yet vast resources the sea has to offer. We strive to discover a process in which habitats don't suffer from overfishing or other diminishing practices, produce minimal if any degradation to the surrounding sea bed, and contribute to establish sustainable methods to guarantee the preservation of this environment. Such Aquaculture good practices help cultivates marine life, multiplying existing resources which in turn protects the sea habitat; the basis on which this project was formulated.
After analysing algae aquaculture, we defined three stages which are essential for the activity: extraction, pre-cultivation and cultivation.
Based on the territory of Coliumo, three subdivisions of strata are present consisting of the sea, coastline and land. Therefore, the project will connect and integrate the three aquaculture stages over the three tiers of strata, transversely. Extraction in the sea stratum, pre-cultivation on the coastline, and finally, cultivation on the land.
In order to develop the proposed aquaculture project efficiently, there will be modification to the immediate development site by transferring sea water into the land, and integrating aquaculture infrastructure into the sea, giving rise to a transverse project.
